In this talk John Woods will explore the increasing influence of the internet on young people’s lives which can be to the good, but often may be seen to be destructive to personality development. In particular the excessive consumption of pornography can produce psychological and emotional damage, to the extent that the capacity for relationships is affected. After a review of some of the evidence on the effects of this new phenomenon, some clinical work will be presented.
John Woods, is a Consultant Psychotherapist with both adults and young people at the Portman Clinic, London.
