Maternal Neglect: Risk Factors, Consequences and the Neurobiology of Mother-Infant Attachment
A One Day Conference Tuesday 13th October 2009, Brighthelm Centre, Brighton
This is our Fourth Annual Conference on the early years of life. Previous conferences have both been well attended and very well reviewed. In the light of the current economic climate we have worked very hard to price this conference at an affordable fee of £75.00 plus vat. (Total - £86.25)
We are very pleased to announce that this year our conference will take the form of a study day with Dr Lane Strathearn, a developmental paediatrician currently working in Houston, Texas. This conference will provide a rare opportunity to hear Dr Strathearn presenting his cutting edge research into the neurobiology of mother-infant attachment and neurodevelopmental disabilities such as autism.
The consequences of child maltreatment are of increasing concern to professionals working with children and adults. Maltreatment can impact upon an individual’s development in the most destructive way. Neglect is one of the most common and most rapidly increasing forms of maltreatment with some of the most serious long term effects on development.
At this conference Dr Strathearn will be examining - 1) Risk factors and outcomes of maternal neglect 2) The neurobiology of mother-infant attachment 3) Addiction and disordered attachment: what leads to what? 4) The Aetiology of Autism: Nature and Nurture?
