Getting Ready for General Data Protection Regulation: What Therapists/Counsellors Need to Know and Do

Much of GDPR is common sense, but in essence we are required to be far more proactive in how we manage the rights of the person for whom we hold data, and this day will give you the following:

  • An understanding of the wide ranging aspects of GDPR, how this fits with the BACP Ethical Framework and the law
  • Specific points that arise for mental health practitioners and how to deal with these
  • A top tips step by step practical coverage of the key areas you’ll need to implement in your own practice
  • A resources pack to support the subject that you can call on for individual requirements
  • Provide you with an information pack including GDPR wording with the area highlighted that we need to think about.
  • On a practical level our aim is to make sure you send emails safely, store your clients’ data safely, think about issues such as cloud storage, make security and privacy changes to your website, and set you well on the path for you to implement the privacy requirements of GDPR for your particular therapeutic circumstances - before the end of the workshop you’ll know what you need to do and have the support and advice to do it.
  • Provide you with a privacy charter that you can use on your website and elsewhere.
  • Take the fear out of the hype
